A new year, a new start.
I have had a wonderful break from teaching, with some pupils getting some lessons before their week at camp thrown in - just to keep it interesting :)
Some pupils have started lessons for the year and I'm having a lovely time getting back into the swing of things slowly.
I am currently putting my timetable together for the year - something I always find a challenge! Everyone has their preference and it's a matter of finding the best possible solutions for every one. Once I fit in returning pupils, then the new enrollments can be slotted in.
Suzuki camp was fantastic! I only got to go up for the one day, but was wonderful to observe international teachers - especially when they work with your pupil! It was also lovely to catch up with former pupils from Temuka and their families. I miss them!
One thing camp does for me every year is to get my own playing going again. On Monday night I was so inspired that I went shopping online. My NZ website www.somusic.co.nz has the cheap shoulder rests back in stock after months of being out. Therefore multiple cakes of rosin and a few shoulder rests later I was ready to close the shopping cart. Next stop was sheet music. I headed on over to www.young-musicians.com to stock up on Suzuki materials (and pick up a couple of extras). My poor credit card! However I am so excited to see the parcels turn up and can't wait to get started for the year!
My job for the rest of this evening is put together a small marketing plan to recruit for some new lovely pupils.
One more week of holiday and then it all begins. Can't wait!!!
